The Fiddle & The Bow

The Fiddle & The Bow

Written by Craig Shepherd & Ian McHale

Director Ian McHale

Assistant Director Sean McHale

Performed by Craig Shepherd

Stan Laurel looks back on the night of his Oscar and reminisces about his film career, both as a solo artist and with Ollie. The play chronicles their early careers, moving on to their ‘immortal’ partnership, through to their later years.

Craig Shepherd

‘Brat’ and professional actor, Andrew had to change his name for Equity purposes in 1997 to Craig Shepherd, because a member of Equity already had the name of Andrew Shepherd.

He attended Shirecliffe College's Performance arts Diploma Course in 1985- 1987 and became a member of the Local Youth Theatre's – namely Sheffield Youth Theatre and the Crucible Youth Theatre.

Craig then spent 3 years at the East 15 Acting School between1990-1993 in Loughton in Essex.

Craig appeared opposite Sheffield’s very own Sean Bean in "When Saturday Comes" as one of his workmates ‘Ben’ in 1995.

Craig and Laurel & Hardy:

Craig attended the first meeting of the Sheffield Brats Tent of the Sons of the Desert (The International Laurel & Hardy Appreciation Society) in 1988, and has remained a member ever since. Craig’s love of Laurel & Hardy is clearly demonstrated in the fact that he even named his son ‘Oliver Stanley’ Shepherd after his comedy heroes.

"I was overwhelmed by the brilliance of the play and thoroughly recommend it to everyone.... it is well-written and lovingly performed in a way which honours Laurel and Hardy tastefully, astutely and appropriately" Willie McIntyre, Editor Bowler Dessert Magazine, the UK

"The Fiddle and The Bow' has been written with love and care and performed with expertise. It was very touching and I felt privileged to have witness this performance!" Roger Robinson, Organiser of the 2010 UK Laurel and Hardy Convention
